I do believe in the bible. I believe that all good things come from God. I don’t believe I would sing the way I do if God hadn’t wanted me to. ~Elvis Presley
Elvis loved gospel music. His passion for gospel music revealed a longing for God and Elvis seemed to be seeking after him looking for purpose. He was a spiritual seeker, which is someone who is looking for answers to the same questions we all ask:
- Origin – where did I come from?
- Meaning – what does it mean to be human?
- Morality – what are the moral absolutes for right and wrong?
- Destiny – what happens when I die?
Some find those answers. Many do not. Whether or not he ever found the answers and made a commitment to surrender his life to Jesus Christ will always be a mystery. Perhaps, during the last moments of his life he was given a final opportunity to ask one last question, “Why me, Lord?” and got the answer he needed. It is with that thought in mind that this devotion is committed to seeking out those answers gleaned from the songs and life of Elvis Presley.
