Freedom. When I think of James Kruk’s tribute to Elvis freedom is what comes to the forefront of my thoughts. In the time I’ve known James he has gone through several phases of his ETA persona. The first phase was performing as an authentic Elvis and matching his mannerisms, vocalizations, and iconic stage presence. James did this with great passion and dedication to ensure fans were getting a taste of what an Elvis concert was like and he did it time and time again. That was the James Kruk Elite Elvis tribute aka King Kruk.
Then came the second phase of the oxymoronic Not Elvis tribute. It is this phase where the freedom of James’ creativity, expression, and interpretation of Elvis is simply extraordinary.
I want to revitalize the perception of Elvis Impersonators [and] put the Rock & Roll back into it; add some heavier guitar sounds and highlight the fun and energy of an Elvis show. It shouldn’t just be big guys in jumpsuits singing over the top ballads, but the whole Elvis package including the sex-appeal. After all it is Elvis!
Most ETAs come to the stage with an understanding they are not Elvis, but simply a shadow of the greatest entertainer to ever grace the stage. James takes it to a new level and embodies this concept. He blends his own personality and interpretation of the songs with Elvis’ personality and interpretation of the songs and makes them his own. It’s Elvis, but it’s not Elvis. It’s not as easy as it sounds and would be impossible without the skillful musicians lead by Les Allen and the Big Boss Men who grasp this concept and share James’ interpretation.
James is free to sing the iconic familiar, and lesser known, songs of Elvis in a way that grabs the audience’s attention and holds onto it until the final bow.
You Be The Judge
James will grab the attention of the fans with an authentic, yet, original style to impress us all . Good luck James.
